I am the Mentor I've been looking for

There once was a lady called Bronwyn Bay.  She had a beautiful vision of a world where mothers knew their worth and embraced the powerful position of leadership they held in their families, community and society at large.  She foresaw a movement that would help mothers remember that they each had a great deal of creativity, love, compassion and wisdom within them.

She went about creating this movement for mothers with much passion and fire……… and then she ran about trying to find mentors who would make her movement worthwhile.  Sure, she could create the movement but the mothers needed and deserved the best.  They needed a string of mentors with expert advice who could truly help mothers know their worth.

The irony is not lost on me.

Well actually it was, until yesterday when I touched base with a friend who always helps me to hear my inner wisdom.  Here’s the truth - I am the mentor I am looking for.  This doesn’t mean that I’m not keen and excited to collaborate and work with amazing professionals who I’m sure will bring much wisdom to the movement.  What it means is that I am enough to make this movement worthwhile. I need to hear what I am pleading for mothers to hear.  I have wisdom, experience, love and compassion.  I am on a journey of self discovery that begs sharing.  I don’t need to wait until I have enough experts on my team to start.  I get to say when I’m ready……I’m ready.

When I started the ‘It Takes A Village…’ initiative in Auckland I quickly realised that like me, the mums of my community were thirsty for connection.  Authentic, here I am, this is what I’m going through connection.  They needed a space where they could really see each other and really be seen.  Really hear each other and really be heard.  They needed a space that enabled them to find their voice and say what’s really going on for them without fear of judgement.  That’s the space I’m creating online with the Mothers United Movement and also in person with the Mothers United Mentorship.  A sacred and safe place for mothers to be completely at home in their feelings, thoughts and desires.

I am the mentor I am looking for and you the mentor that you are looking for.  I don’t need to run around finding gurus to talk at me or you (shudder) about how to live.  I’ve realised that what I truly need is space to connect with my own intuition and wisdom.  Women are experts at this.  We nut things out collaboratively.  Not by advice giving but by listening with love and compassion to our sister talk so that she can receive her own enquiry literally by hearing her own voice.  Sure we can talk away to ourselves in our heads but have you ever noticed that the voice in your head can sometimes be a bit of a dick? Criticising you and scoffing at what you think and feel?

Through our shared intention to receive each other with love and compassion, the Mothers United Mentorship allows us to express our thoughts and feelings freely. We notice that our struggles and pain are reflected in each others voices.  We realise that through sharing we receive the gifts of our own and each other's wisdom.  Because the truth is that the mentor within me is also within you.

So no more stalling.  No more looking for experts, worrying about whether I'm using the right words or if the timing is right.  I just need to trust that if I build it they will come (thanks Kevin Costner).

If you’re intrigued about the Mothers United Mentorship and would like to know more about what’s involved, then click the link above and let’s have a chat.

I am waiting to receive you.

With love
Bron (Mentor)

I'm Bronwyn Bay and I'm passionate about mums.  I believe mothers are a rich and largely untapped reservoir of wisdom, spirit, creativity and power within local communities and society at large.  I am the founder of the 'It Takes A Village...' community support initiative in East Auckland, creator of the Mothers Unite! Conference and starter of the Mothers United Movement.  I am a devoted mum, wife and work from home as a freelance writer helping people to put their passion on paper - Bronwyn Bay. I also provide reiki healings from my home in my Rainbow Reiki Room.
I also run a Dunedin based meet up for mums in business where we share our knowledge and support each other called 'Share Your Gold'.

I love to blog about what ever insights life throws my way as I navigate this life.  I hope you enjoy my musings.
